I find my oldest daughters sense of humor (which is quite dry) pretty hilarious. Of course my husband doesn't always think she's as funny as I do, which can cause a few tifts. He did, however, find a couple of things she said while on our trip in S.D. quite funny. Although the first conversation, he didn't catch on right away.
We were driving around a lake that he remembered fishing at while he was in high school and was telling a story about how the dyke broke and it flooded Rapid City. When he said "dyke", Ashley giggled and pointed out what he said. It took him a few minutes to realize they weren't on the same page with that particular word. The following then was said:
Hubby: We're going to drive over the dyke.
Ashley: Isn't that illegal?
Hubby: No, not in South Dakota.
Then while on the way home, she was sitting in the back seat of the truck with Chester, our Maltese, in her lap. She was pointing out that he had several mats that needed to be groomed. To then which she said, "You're a hairball, you look like something the cat would cough up."
Maybe it doesn't sound all that funny to you, but she cracks me up anyway!

I see the problem. Your dh misspelled it when he spoke. The kind you can drive on are called "dikes."
