Under-appreciated

Or maybe it's just plan UNappreciated. This morning I was upstairs in Morgan's room & bathroom picking up all her dirty whites to throw in the wash (she's gotta have clean socks & sports bras for tomorrow!). I picked up her warm ups and told her she'd better get them packed in her vball bag and she said she'd get them at lunch. I asked how she'd do that and she suggested I come and get her for lunch. Well, I have to work until 11:00 (or longer, depending on any possible new members) and then I need to make a trip to the grocery store to get hamburger and snack food for the district tournaments we have tomorrow (all for HER). Being told this, she got snippy and said she wishes I were Kelsey's mom, she takes her to lunch "all the time". Gee, sorry I'm not Kelsey's mom...sorry I have to get stuff for HER tournament...sorry I can't run back and forth between our town and the town I work and shop in. Sheesh!!!! I'm a bit put out right now, can you tell??

Someday they may actually appreciate you. Meantime, that's life with teenagers.

Just remember--the more you do for them, the more they expect. Just another reason to let them be responsible for their own stuff. Emily's been doing her own laundry for quite awhile now, and on the rare occasions when I throw in a load for her, is actually appreciative.
