As most of you suspect, we do just about anything for our kids, including running ragged (I guess that'd be me), to get Morgan to her sports events. Well, once again, we'll be running ragged. Morgan has decided to play volleyball in high school. There are a lot of girls who go out for volleyball. And I mean a lot. I am a bit sad that she will no longer play softball (she could probably make the varisty team her freshman year, there just aren't that many girls who play for our high school that have been on competitive teams in the past), but we have always told her she needs to do what makes "Morgan" happy. In light of the fact she wants to play high school volleyball, we decided she could try out for a club volleyball team to increase her chances of at least being on JV her freshman year. In my days, they only had JV and Varsity....but here, they have a "D" team, "C" team and then the JV and Varsity. So on Sunday and Wednesday night, she participated in a 5 hour try out (3 hrs one night, 2 the next). She found out last night, she made the 14-1 team. That is the highest team for that age group. This means practices twice a week (from 8 - 10 p.m. no less) and tournaments on Sunday's (which means church on Saturday nights). Most tournaments will be no further than Colorado Springs (which is about 2 hours or so (depending on traffic) from us. But being on the 14-1 team also means one out of state tournament that includes extra $$$ for airfare, hotel, meals etc. I am hoping we are able to find sponsors for this stuff. I am also hoping that Morgan really understands the sacrifices we've made. I know she'll do her best playing, she always does with her sports, but I do hope she realizes that this takes $$$ and a lot of time! AND she still plans on playing basketball this year, luckily, in 8th grade, the season is about 2 months long!
I also want to tell youse that Ashley had her first choir concert of the year. She really likes the new director, she is SO much better than the one they've had the past 2 years. Ashley and fellow soprano Amy, sang a duet to "My Guy", along with some dance moves. It was awesome. They were so good (and cute!). Her principal, who is also our neighbor, told her it was good to see some personality (she is mostly very reserved) and she told him that she doesn't like to show it for the most part!

I don't envy you! But I'm also wondering if she REALLY won't play softball. Seems to me we've heard that song before.
Tell dh to save those frequent flyer miles!
