The List

The hubby told me yesterday I seemed to only remember "stupid" things. Excuse me? He had to rephrase that, to "trival" things. I don't remember the "important" things. To be honest, his "important" and mine must be different. So today I made a list. The first 3 things are already crossed off that list....those stupid, um, I mean, trival things are....

1) working out
2) trip to Wal-Mart
3) chiropractic appointment

Blogging isn't on my list, but doing my prep for my meeting is, which has to be done on the computer....so I'm close to crossing off #4. The "important" things to the hubby are the last 2 things on the list. I'll try my hardest to get to them, after, of course, I get through the trival things!

Standing Up

I'm not much for confrontations. I'm a lover, not a fighter. But when it comes to my kids, I'll do it. I called my friend and asked her if she'd mention what we'd talked about to another person. She had.....she explained the whole story. They'd ended up at the same fast food place after the game. The other person expressed concern for the oldest, her friends had been worried about her. One thing led to another and what I'd told my friend was brought up. As soon as it came out of her mouth, she regretted it. She'd forgotten that in the oldest's group of friends was this lady's daughter. Unfortunately, this lady confronted not only that daughter, but her younger one too....and named names. I'm not sure how my youngest daughter was brought into it, she had nothing to do with my original conversation. I think it has already blown over. From what I understand, this lady is going to have bigger issues to deal with soon anyway. She'll soon forget anything my daughter may or may not have done. I will, in the furture, be very careful as to what I tell people and who I tell it to! I just know that as hard as it was for me to confront my friend, I am glad I did. I understand how everything happened and I forgive her!

Lessons Learned

Even an old dog can learn new tricks. Or an middle age woman can learn a new lesson. I confided something in a friend the other day. Last night both my kids said that they'd been told their friends mom knew this "secret" and the rumors are flying about them both. Now the person who's kids told my kids this isn't even the person I confided in. I'm not sure that person said anything. I actually tried to call her today and ask. I'm thinking the mom just tried to guess, threw it out there for her kids to see their reaction. It's no wonder there is so much drama in high school, we haven't outgrown it as adults and we wonder where the kids get it!

What the ????

Last night the oldest told me she hates school. She hates most of her teachers, she hates her classes. It's dumb to sit in school for 8 hours a day when she could get the work done in a couple of hours. She wants to be homeschooled. She's halfway through her junior year. Like I could homeschool and she'd learn anything! I wasn't even willing to homeschool when they were in grade school! She is miserable right now, but I'm not sure homeschooling is going to be her fix! Any suggestions?

Should'a knocked on wood!

At work Tuesday we were talking about being sick, getting sick, weak and strong immune sytems. I said that Morgan never gets sick, attributing it to the fact that while pitching softball, she licks her fingers before pitching and while playing volleyball and basketball, if her shoes feel slick, she licks her hand and rubs it on the soles of her shoes. I figured she has so many germs in her system, they kill each other off and she doesn't get sick. She woke up sick today. I think she has a fever...I don't have a working themometer, so I'm not sure. She says her ear hurts. I made a doctor appointment. Better take care of it now, she has a tournament this weekend!

Never Again!

Never again will I host a birthday party for 38 of my daughters closest friends! Now I have to tell you, it wasn't all bad. A little crowded...a little confusing at times and heck, I only got one very small sliver of cake with all these kids around. But for the most part, they were good. Morgan got a few gifts, but mostly cards with money. Not bad for a 14 year old....she received $225!!! They danced, played Dance Dance Revolution, some played some basketball and they watched a movie. The trouble only happened when it was time for parents to pick them up. Some kids went outside to wait for their ride. That's when the opportunity arose. I opened the door to call my dog back inside and heard a loud "boom" and saw a bright flash of light. I asked who did that, and of course "no one" did. I told them not to do that again, got the dog and went in to continue clean up. While cleaning up the basement, I was shutting a window and heard another loud "boom"! Sent the hubby out. By this time our neighbor was outside chewing some kid out. Hubby made everyone come in to wait for their parents. One boy thought he saw his ride coming and went outside, only to come back in to let me know that the police were pulling up. Yipee. Sent the hubby out again. Luckily nothing happened, but a neighbor called the police and said there were fireworks and a grass fire. We didn't find any fire, or even scorched grass the next day. I think it was just the very bright light that the firework made. It'll be a birthday party Morgan can remember....the one where the cops showed up. I hope she doesn't expect a party next year!

I Hope We Survive!

Tonight is Morgan's big night! She's having her 14th birthday party with friends. Like 40 of them! Yes, we are crazy. Luckily, we have Dance Dance Revolution, an air hockey table, dart board and a karaoke machine in the basement. And luckily we have 4 very nice friends who are coming over to help keep us sane and keep track of all these kids. Morgan asked her dad last night (she asked me first) if they could have a "make out room"....she was kidding, but loved the shock factor it created. I said "absolutely not!"....whereas the hubby just said "WHAT??????" I should be cleaning for the big night, and putting up some decorations, but I hadn't written in awhile, so I chose blogging instead! She's in luck, she gets to celebrate all weekend long. Tonight the big party, tomorrow, her actual birthday, we're going out to her restaurant of choice and Sunday, we're having friends over for cake and ice cream. Wish us luck, we might need it!

Four Things

My friend Annie tagged me for this....I've never been tagged before! Then Cat sort of tagged me (since she knew I'd already been tagged, she didn't really say my name, but I got the hint!). So here I am, playing along with Four Things:

Four jobs you've had in your life: Bank Teller, Personnel Clerk, Quality Control Clerk and Weight Watchers Leader.

Four movies you could watch over and over: Hope Floats, Sweet Home Alabama, Pirates of the Carribean and The Replacements.

Four TV shows you love to watch: Friends (even tho they are reruns!), Desperate Housewives, Lost and Animal Planet's Animal Cops.

Four places you've been to on vacation: California (Disneyland), Florida (Disney World), The Carribean (cruise) and Canada.

Four websites you visit daily: My friend Cat's blog, Annie's blog, Laurie's blog and MSN.com

Four of your favorite foods: Pizza, pasta, Mexican food and Chinese or Japanese food

Four places you'd rather be: In bed, in the Carribean, in a mountain lodge, and camping.

Four albums you can't live without: Trisha Yearwood's Songbook, John Mellencamp's Scarecrow, The soundtrack from Dirty Dancing and the soundtrack from Sweet Home Alabama.

Four people you tag to play this game: Since only about 3 people read this and they've already been tagged....I'll tag my daughter, Ashley, if she reads this, she can pass it on to the millions of people who read her stuff!

One down....many to go!

Today we experienced our very first club volleyball tournament. Luckily for us, it was just about 12 miles from home. We had to be there at 7:30 a.m. All the parents brought food/drinks (breakfast burritos, fruit, veggies, cheese snacks, mini muffins), so we set up our little "corner of the world" among many others and headed to the gym to find out what was going on. Our coaches and girls had to officate the first game (coaches do the officiating, the girls are line judges and score keepers), then we played the 2nd game. Morgan didn't play much, but when she did, she played well. We won. Had a break and the girls ate and goofed around, then back to the gym for the 2nd game. Again, they won. Then they had to officiate again. And play another game....another win. Got a break for food again, then another game. Morgan played most of this last game, and did quite well (awesome block!), and they won! We were in Division 2....since we won all games in our division, we played a game against the winner of Division 1. It was one game, to 25 points. They were good, they were big, we gave them a run for their money, we were ahead a few time....Morgan played good. We ended up losing the game, 20 - 25, but we took 2nd place in the tournament! It was a pretty good experience for our first touranment! Morgan is tired....she fell asleep, but her salad and pizza are here so she drug herself off the couch to eat. I am tired....I spent yesterday at 2 practices, IHOP (team bonding time), running errands, doing laundry, making 2 dozen breakfast burritos and mini banana muffins before going to bed at 10:00 last night. And tossing and turning for about an hour and a half in the middle of the night, wondering if I had everythign I would need. Then I watched volleyball all day....it's exhausting watching kids work hard at a sport an entire day! hehe! So, I'm kicking back for the rest of the night and not doing ANYTHING! We'll do this all again the weekend of the 22nd!

It's Insanity!

Everyone always thinks that once "the holiday's are over, things will get back to normal". Ha! Is there such a thing as "normal"?? I think not! I have so much stuff going on right now, I can't believe I can get anything done. Okay, one look at my house, and most people would say I *haven't* gotten anything done! I am currently playing travel agent for the youngest's out of state volleyball tournament. It's crazy, trying to make hotel reservations, then finding out the flight information is different than your hotel, so you have to change that all up. And then getting all the prices together to let all the parents know where they stand! And just the normal of calling all the parents and letting them know about changes in the practice schedule, etc. I feel I should have my headset phone permanently attached to my head! Not to mention just your every day household chores that need to be done. I have got to get the Christmas stuff down (at least before the 13th, when we are hosting a birthday party for the youngest), I have every laundry basket in my house full with clean stuff to be folded and put away. I have stuff that needs to go into the washer and dryer! I did manage to find time to pay bills, that were due the 1st, of course! So.....when does my life get back to "normal"?

Happy New Year

Welcome 2006! Wow, hard to believe! We had a very nice dinner last night with two other couples. And barely a mile drive home. I went to bed before midnight, but was still awake to some people and noises that kept Chester barking. Then of course, the youngest called from her friends house, I'm not sure there was every a Happy New Year said, I just heard a lot of scream and yelling. The hubby and I both said HNY and hung up!
Today is a unwind day. It's always a let down after the "holiday" seems to be over. So much activity goes on, and then suddenly, it's done. Reminds me of when I got married, 8 months of planning and in one day, it's all over. But I guess that is life. I stayed in my pj's until 2:00 today. I only got dressed because we have absolutely NOTHING to eat/drink here, so since I needed gas, I decided to drive to the station, fuel up the *D* and get myself a 44 oz diet Pepsi. It'll last me the whole day!
Well, the hubby has poured some bubbly, so I'll sign off for now!
