BOO!

Happy Halloween. Every year I get less and less into it! I haven't even bought candy yet....guess that means I'd better get going here soon! I never decorated this year, Morgan said something about it and I told her she was free to go get the decorations out, but she never did it either. Oh well. I did have to laugh, Ashley and 2 of her friends decided they were dressing up for school today! She continues to amaze me simply because she was the kid who tried not to draw attention to herself when she was younger. Now today she's in a pirate costume, complete with hat and eye patch (she would have had a hook, only Chester decided it was a good chew toy). I should have taken a pic with my camera. I took a couple of her with her camera, but she took that with her.
Well, I guess I'll go buy candy....anything that I don't like, since I am trying hard to lose some weight!

How Cool Is That??

I'm so excited! Living is a small town, you don't usually have fast food places to eat at. And I have to say, I AM trying to behave, so I don't want to eat a lot of fast food. But....we just got a Subway and it's OPEN! Guess where I stopped for lunch today? And keep your fingers crossed, Ashley applied there last night!

Hump Day!

And it's the only day this week I get to stay home! I had to work up in Cheyenne on Monday. It was a gorgeous day, so the drive up was beautiful. Of course I work 2 meetings on Tuesday's and Thursday's and I'm filling in on Friday this week! So today is the day I'm staying in sweats, I may not even shower! hehe! And I suppose I'd better do laundry. Maybe run the vaccum....and possibly dust. But hey, I'm HOME! Oh, yea, I'm playing on the computer today too!

Our Lives Just Changed

As most of you suspect, we do just about anything for our kids, including running ragged (I guess that'd be me), to get Morgan to her sports events. Well, once again, we'll be running ragged. Morgan has decided to play volleyball in high school. There are a lot of girls who go out for volleyball. And I mean a lot. I am a bit sad that she will no longer play softball (she could probably make the varisty team her freshman year, there just aren't that many girls who play for our high school that have been on competitive teams in the past), but we have always told her she needs to do what makes "Morgan" happy. In light of the fact she wants to play high school volleyball, we decided she could try out for a club volleyball team to increase her chances of at least being on JV her freshman year. In my days, they only had JV and Varsity....but here, they have a "D" team, "C" team and then the JV and Varsity. So on Sunday and Wednesday night, she participated in a 5 hour try out (3 hrs one night, 2 the next). She found out last night, she made the 14-1 team. That is the highest team for that age group. This means practices twice a week (from 8 - 10 p.m. no less) and tournaments on Sunday's (which means church on Saturday nights). Most tournaments will be no further than Colorado Springs (which is about 2 hours or so (depending on traffic) from us. But being on the 14-1 team also means one out of state tournament that includes extra $$$ for airfare, hotel, meals etc. I am hoping we are able to find sponsors for this stuff. I am also hoping that Morgan really understands the sacrifices we've made. I know she'll do her best playing, she always does with her sports, but I do hope she realizes that this takes $$$ and a lot of time! AND she still plans on playing basketball this year, luckily, in 8th grade, the season is about 2 months long!

I also want to tell youse that Ashley had her first choir concert of the year. She really likes the new director, she is SO much better than the one they've had the past 2 years. Ashley and fellow soprano Amy, sang a duet to "My Guy", along with some dance moves. It was awesome. They were so good (and cute!). Her principal, who is also our neighbor, told her it was good to see some personality (she is mostly very reserved) and she told him that she doesn't like to show it for the most part!

Dinner Bell

I am a good cook.....I don't especially care to cook, but I can. I am a bad planner, so if I don't plan ahead, I'm never really sure what is for dinner. We also lead very busy lives....just last week we were not home one night during the entire week. We ate out, at games, skipped meals, ordered pizza, whatever. Tonight was the first night I have had time to cook. I figured the kids would be thrilled. But alas, I was wrong. Morgan didn't want to come home after managing boys basketball practice....evidently going to the skate park with friends and learning to skateboard was way more appealing. Since Ashley was the one who went to get her from pratice, waited for her and then came home without her (during which time she could have finished her essay), she was a little put out. I made one of her favorite meals, chicken and dumplings. We ate....in silence. No thanks mom, no it's good mom....just silence. Just another reason for me to decide I don't need to cook..right??

Can I breathe yet?

Nope! But I can see the light! Homecoming is almost over! Ashley, her date and 3 others left about an hour ago for dinner and the dance. I'll see if I can attach a picture.

And Morgan's volleyball team won their tournament. It was great.

Homecoming Week

I think I said in one of my last blog enteries that I must be boring. Well, my life isn't boring this week! It's homecoming week, which means the kids are busy building floats and going to games. Morgan has been driving me crazy with the middle school homecoming float, evidiently she's never heard of delegating! Just because she's "in charge" of it, doesn't mean others can't do some of the stuff! Crazy girl! Ashley's been sick most of the week, but has managed to attend everything. The powder puff game was the best! I do have to say, the senior girls were scary! There is one girl who played football until she was in 6th grade, and she's a very solid girl. She took out a few of our juniors! It was "touch" football, but she got a little carried away. They did give the seniors 15 yard penalties. And our little, skinny quarterback got clotheslined! But for the most part it was good, clean fun, Ashley said she had a good time. As a defensive lineman. It was TTF! She's a little too girly! The seniors won, 22 - 6, but Ashley said they will practice more next year and have a few tricks up their sleeves! The boys also had "powerstuff" volleyball that night. Again the seniors won, but the jrs gave them a good run for their money, it was a fun night!
I had to work today, which is something I don't normally do, but it was a small meeting (I was the receptionist) and I balanced right away, so we got out of there fairly quickly. Now I'm getting ready to go clean the windows on the Durango, then write on them with those "window markers" for homecoming. I have to go pick up the middle school's float AND I'll be driving it in the parade! I think I'm supposed to help sell raffle tickets for the after prom committee at the game tongiht too.

Tomorrow is Morgan's volleyball tournament. I hope they do well. Keep your fingers crossed. She is contemplating trying out for a club volleyball team. It will take major committment and her social life will have to take a backseat for a few months. She has until Sunday to decide....I say try out, there's a 50/50 chance she'll make it. If she does, she has 24 hours to give them an answer. If she doesn't, then she doesn't have to worry about it!

So, this may be a boring read, but my life is definitely not boring right now. In fact, I'm ready for a slow down, but that won't come until Tuesday!

Ahhhhhhh

I have to say, after my last 2 blogs about my insanely crazy Monday, I just wanted to say that yesterday was perfectly non-eventful! I went to work, and came home. I went to a volleyball game. That's it. It didn't even rain! Of course, today might be a different story, but at least yesterday was tame!

And the Rest of the Story

IF you read yesterday's post, you'll know it wasn't the best day. After stopping at the middle school to make sure Morgan didn't forget my soaked look, I went home, stripped off wet clothing and threw on some sweats, blow dryed my hair (but didn't re-style it) and tried to destress. At 5:00 I headed back to the middles school to pick up Morgan and 5 other 8th grade student council members for float decorating. We drive out to "the ranch" and pull in. The trailer I took there earlier is still sitting out in the rain....like they can decorate a drenched trailer. The 7th grade girls who are also student council members (one of which lives there) are no where to be found. The girls call them...."oh, someone will move the trailer" and "we'll be there in 10 minutes". That turned out to be a half hour!!!! One of the ranch hands finally came and moved the trailer into the HUGE barn and I finally got to drop the kids off and leave. Unfortuantely, I decided I needed to go back, since yesterday was pajama day and so Morgan still had on her volleyball clothes, had no sweats, no hoodie and her good vball shoes on. I ran home, grabbed some warm clothes and old shoes and a huge jar of cheese balls (she won those at our churchs festival) and Ashley and I went back. Of course it's 6:30 by this time. She was thrilled to get clothes and snacks. Ashley and I went to Greeley (we were half way there) to get something to eat. We decided to go to Alberto's....inside. Ashley was embarrassed, I had on softball sweats, a black turtleneck sweater, a green jacket and had my hair pulled up in a clip, still looking like a drowned rat! Headed back and picked up the girls by 8:00 (found out I was taking them all back to the middle school), dropped everyone off and headed home. I talked to the hubby for about 2 minutes and went to bed. It was one very wild and wet and LONG day!

Don't Ask Again!

I would have to say a lot of people would say I'm a pushover when it comes to doing things for my kids. I am, afterall a SAHM....which means I have time to do the extras. (sometimes!) Morgan is on student council....and she keeps volunteering to head different committees. Like the homecoming float the student council does. And she's a procrastinator. She finally found a trailer to borrow to make the float on. I had to take her there yesterday to check it out. It was raining. It was muddy. I had to go pick it up today. It's raining harder, and way muddier. I was told to "just take it to Keile's house"....so I drive over there, pull up by one of their barns, try to open a few doors. Everythings locked. I back the thing up (very badly I might add, thankfully I had plenty of room), and drive over to the big barn. No one there either. I'm wet. I decided I'm driving to the middle school, I get there, pull my darling daughter out of class and ask her where the heck I'm supposed to put this darn trailer. She finds Keile, who calls her dad. Well, he's at home (you have to see this place, the house is huge, and sits way up on a hill, the barns are all off a seperate drive), he said to just take the trailer over by one of the smaller barns and unhitch it, then he'd move it later. So I leave again. I get out to the barns again, find a spot to park it and start to unhitch it. I crank the leg thingy down, but it won't go all the way to the ground. I'm trying to think how I can make this work (afterall, I'm a camper, I should know these things). After fiddling around in the rain, I see a camper parked next to one of the many barns and a lightbulb goes on. I don't have any pieces of wood or whatever to put under the leg thingy to make it set up higher. So, in the rain of course, I search around. I find a chunk of concrete, and two bricks. That should do the trick. I crank and crank. I think the Durango is actually lifting with the stupid hitch. I jump up on the bumper and try to make it move. It doesn't budge. I check the hitch latch, it's definitely unlocked, so it should come off. I'm getting really ticked off....I'm soaking wet. Good thing I had a down filled coat on, because it was soaked, but my skin wasn't (except for my head, not sure why I washed my hair earlier today). Oh, my butt was a little wet too, since I had to crouch down a couple of times and my pants puckered out! Now I'm really super mad. Why won't this stupid thing unhitch!?! I call my hubby....no answer, I call his cell phone....he answers, says "I'm in a meeting, I'll call you back" and he hangs up. I sit there thinking..."now what". I've already been there for 20 minutes! Finally hubby calls back. I tell him everything I did and he finally says, "Did you put a piece of wood in front and back of a couple of wheels, then try moving the Durango forward or back to see if you can jar it loose?" I tell him I'll try and hang up. So I trounce through more mud and find a 2 x 4 and a brick. Put those behind one wheel, in front of another, jump in the Duragno and start it up. I put it in drive, ease forward and hear a "clunck!" I get out and FINALLY, the damn thing came unhitched!!! I jump in the Durango, and start to pull out, only then remembering to call the hubby and tell him he's a genius. I then decide to go back to the middle school. Morgan is getting ready for volleyball practice. I'm soaked, my pants, coat and hair looks like I've stood under a waterfall. She looks at me funny...I tell her to memorize what I look like, so next time she asks me to help out with a trailer for the float for homecoming, she'll think twice. Then she says "Are you mad?"

Yup, it's me

Your Birthdate: April 29

Your birthday on the 29th adds a tone of idealism to your nature.

You are imaginative and creative, but rather uncomfortable in the business world.

You are very aware and sensitive, with outstanding intuitive skills and analytical abilities.

The 29 reduces to 11, one of the master numbers which often produces much nervous tension.

This is the birthday of the dreamer rather than the doer.

You do, however, work very well with people.

Excuse me Mother Nature...

When I lived in TX, I really missed the changing of the seasons. We basically had summer and winter. So when we moved to CO, I was thrilled to have all 4 seasons again. I love fall, the crisp, cool days, the beautiful colors. It's been warm here for the most part, so the leaves are just now starting to change. Unfortunately, it seems like winter today. It started raining yesterday and is still raining today. It's 36 degrees out right now, they are calling for a high of 39! I'm just hoping that the leaves don't all fall off the trees before they have the chance to change to their brilliant yellows, golds, and reds! So, Mother Nature, have a heart, give me back my fall!

Um..........

Damn! I must be boring....no comments lately!

Not a lot going on....either I'm super busy, or I'm bored. Can't find that perfect place inbetween!
Here's an update on the kids (maybe they're boring?? )....

Ashley is getting ready for homecoming. She has been practicing for the powder puff football game. She runs like a girl, her best friend was making fun of her. She's afraid one of the seniors, who is quite soild, is going to tackle her. I think it'll be fun..altho I did have to sign a waiver today stating we have adequate insurance! We finally found shoes last night to go with her dress. For the first time ever, she's going somewhat casual. It's almost hippie-ish. She does like being different, non conformist that she is.

Morgan's volleyball season is winding down. They had their last game Wednesday. It was awesome, they played great and they won. She had a great spike and block. They have tournaments the 15th. She's also thinking of playing club ball. She had a panic attack at school yesterday (grrrr....they run in the family!). Too much on her plate with school, volleyball and student council and of course her social life. Trying to teach her that lists work wonders. She's an awful lot like me, waits until the last minute to get things done and then panics thinking about it!

I get to go have lunch with my co-workers today. My friend Linda, who used to reception the meetings I lead, now works at a bank. We're heading to Windsor, where she works, and having lunch with her...it's Milissa's birthday, so we're celebrating that. It will be fun.
I paid bills today....I always hate that. But I have to admit, it's a relief to get them out of the way.

Re-reading this, I can see why I never have comments! BORING!

Her Second Home

I have Ashley's car today. She was 2000 miles over from her last oil change, so her dad thought it would be a good idea to get it changed. I offered to switch vehicles with her and I'd take it in. I needed to go to Wal-Mart anyway, so I had it done there. I even stopped on the way home and filled it up for her. While at the gas station, I decided to throw out some garbage. On the floor in the back were Starbucks cups, water bottles and pop bottles. And several jackets and t-shirts and a pair of shoes. I'm beginning to think she lives in her car! It's actually messier than her room!
