And We're Off
We thought it was going to be a fairly boring summer. Morgan wasn't playing softball....first time since she was 4. We were wrong. She decided a half hour before tryouts last Saturday that she *would* try out. And of course she made the team. Now our schedule has become a marathon. I haven't cooked yet this week. Tuesday she had track from 3:30 to 5:00, softball from 6:00 to 8:00. Tonight she has track again 'til 5:00 and softball at the batting cages at 6:00. I think they have pratice on Saturday. Yep, we're on the run.....again.

A hunt for white bedding
Ashley got a new bed. She got it in her head she wanting the bedding to be white. We started shopping at Sears. I wanted to get a "bed in a bag" set so you get the shams, bed ruffle and comforter all together. Well, at Sears all we managed to get was a foam mattress topper and a mattress pad. Then it was on to Kohl's....nope, they didn't have white bedding either. Next was Target. Well, we're getting closer, they had their Simply Chic line....pretty expensive and of course it doesn't all come together. So we decided we'd check out Bed, Bath & Beyond, which is new in Greeley. Again, no white bedding in a set. We ended up getting a set of sheets, a bed ruffle and a white down comforter there, but of course, it wasn't even close to the sale prices that the "bed in a bag" sales were at the other stores. Ashley's famous quote for the day...."I didn't know it was so hard to find white bedding....you can get Buzz Lightyear, but not white!" So true my dear! But it's all bought, washed and put on....and when I took clean laundry up to her room this morning....her bed was made! First time in 15 years I think!

Darn Blogger!
I had this really nice message yesterday about Easter and how it affected my whole family and when I tried posting it, it said the server went down. Well, forget it, I'm not going to try posting it again. Just know we had a great Easter and not one fight among any of us!
Onto the bed thing. Eric and I went looking on Saturday. He tries to barter with every place. If they have a sale going, they are only going to give you the sale price. One guy was very cocky when Eric said it was too much, so no matter how much I liked the bed, we weren't buying it there. So yesterday, I went back to the other place I found a bed I liked. We hadn't decided on a mattress yet.....well, unless we had $3000 to spend on a temperpedic that was to die for.....so I picked out a mattress and told our saleslady "lets do it". Now I have to wait 6 - 10 weeks because they didn't have the bed I picked out in king on stock, so it's been ordered. The mattress will be in next week....that'll help, what am I supposed to do, put it on the floor?

Bed Hunting
I didn't realize when Eric and I decided to go from a queen bed to a king, it was going to be such an adventure. We'd thought about it a couple of years ago, then shelved the idea. But now he's adamant about it, and in all reality, we need a new mattress so I don't wake up feeling 100 years old! But we've been looking at beds for over a month now and still can't decide. We want a medium colored oak, to go with the bedroom set we already have. I'd like a sleigh bed. He doesn't care. He does care about how much it costs. You can't find a real oak sleigh bed for his price. I did find a sleigh bed that is definitely in our price range, but the salesman told me that it's a soft wood. I'm not sure how well that would work out with our two big dogs when they race around the house and up over our bed. Okay, the oldest one doesn't race or jump anymore, but she does sleep on our bed and I'd hate for her to scratch up the frame trying to get on or off the bed. I did find a nice, solid oak (medium color even) spindle frame that I really liked, and it's in our price range. I was even able to bring home a book to show Eric. We'll see what he says. I hope we make up our minds soon, bed frames are started to haunt me at night!

An Actual Stay at Home Day?
I've been really busy....Monday I ran, ran, ran and never got to get anything done at home, or even sit down to rest. Yesterday I worked, then TRIED to take a nap, only to have the dogs bark serveral times and keep me awake. Today I could have done some running, still looking for a new bed (going from a queen to a king), and was thinking of shopping around for that. I also thought I might make a trip to Wal-Mart for a few things, even though I was just there Monday for grocery shopping. But after working out today at Curves and coming home to change my clothes, I've decided to just stay home. I have laundry to be done, some computer stuff for work to be done, maybe I'll even vaccum. But I'd also just like some down time. One of my dogs has been sick every night for 4 - 5 nights in a row, getting me up at least twice every night. I'm tired. So, today, I think I'll be a real stay at home mom, and just stay home!

The Windy City?
Now I live no where near Chicago, but I think they have given us their wind. I know it's March, and that it's usually windy, but it's getting ridiculous! I shouldn't even bother doing my hair! In fact, maybe I'll just wash it, and stand outside to let it dry. And it's worse today, because it's colder and the sun has failed to show up from behind the gray clouds. Makes me want to take a nap! Hey, Chicago, take your wind back!

More Me
I lay awake at 12:30 last night thinking....of course this was after my darling puppy woke up and barked at the garbage sitting on the curb. So I decided to write 10 things about myself that maybe some people don't know. And I had to LOL at Annie leaving me a comment about 10 things she knows about me, because we must have been on the same wave length!
1. I am the youngest of 2 girls, my dad treated me like a boy, I was a tomboy and yet I became the one who is more into how I dress and my make up!
2. I won the Illinois State Championship of barrel racing in 1983 with my Quarter Horse, Sassy....still a very proud moment in my life.
3. I thought my husband was the biggest loser the day I met him, he laid a real line on me and I didn't talk to him for almost a year!
4. Eric and I only dated 4 months before we got engaged, and were engaged 8 months before we got married. People doubted us, but 17 (almost) years later we're still married.
5. I did NOT get pregnant before I was married....come on, I got married in July and had Ashley the week before our first anniversary. People actually were counting when I told them I was pregnant.
6. I used to think I could never be a stay at home mom, it would be too boring. I've changed my mind, can't imagine working full time anymore, even though my kids are 15 and 13!
7. I love reading, golf, camping and watching sports. I used to be a really good fisher(wo)man when I was a kid, but have found as an adult I can no longer cast a line without getting snagged in trees or rocks....how do you forget that?
8. I love my dogs, okay you all know that already. If I lived in the country, I'd have more.
9. I was shy as a kid, was afraid I'd say something stupid and people would laugh at me. Now I speak in front of people 4 times a week for my job. And I've found that even if I say something dumb, people still like me.
10. I used to be blonde....I'm not sure what my real hair color is anymore. I like to try different colors.
As a bonus, #11 would have to be that I love being a mom, even the days when the girls drive me nuts. Some day when they are all grown up and have wonderful careers, families, whatever, I will be able to proudly say I had a part in that.
Gee, that wasn't as hard as I thought!

Me
My dear friend, Bluegrass Mama, is looking forward to a post about me. I'm sitting here, racking my poor little brain to figure out something to write that's just about me. I really need to get a hobby or something. I mean, I like shopping and spending money, but the hubby frowns upon doing too much of that. I like my dogs, they love me back, no matter what type of mood I'm in. I actually cleaned yesterday, I found my kitchen table, we are able to sit there now and eat! I did have to justify myself to hubby as to why I dust and then vaccum....he thinks I should do it the other way around. I figure he should be happy I'm doing it, no matter which I do first. I'm being a nice mom (what's new), and catching laundry up for the youngest, I think she was going to have to turn her clothes inside out and start wearing them that way (believe me, she'd have no problem wearing dirty clothes). I think I might take a nap today, for some reason I feel tired. I've worked out, ran errands and of course there's that laundry....I can squeeze a nap in I'm sure.
This is why I don't write about me I guess.....kind of boring!

Oh My
My goodness....reading my last few posts, you'd think my life revolves around my teenager daughters! Okay, so it does for the most part, but surely I can come up with something else to write about. Hmmm.....let me think.......I really need to get a life!

All About Ashley
I see my oldest daughter is getting tired of reading about her little sister in my blog! So I'll write something about her.
At 15 (and a half, she'll soon get a license!), she still likes spending time with her mom. At least she acts like she does. We went to lunch together, did a little shopping and saw a movie last Friday. Just her and I. Of course, her friend, Spencer, (not her boyfriend tho!), asked if I was her best friend, since she spent time with me. Come on Spencer, some kids actually LIKE at least one of their parents!
Ashley seems to be attracting guys this year. I'm not sure I like this. It's not because I don't want her to date or anything, but she brings them home and then I end up thinking what a great guy they might be, then she's moving on to the next one. I guess Mom's aren't supposed to get attached.
I like her friends....most of them anyway. They like to party tho, I wish they wouldn't. Scares me.
She likes her sister most of the time....she's a pretty good big sister when it comes to Morgan's sports, she watches most of her games when she can.
She's a good kid.....Ashley are you reading this????
