Social Life

Okay, so I don't have one, not much anyway. But my girls have really developed one these days. Haven't seen much of Ashley at night, lucky for her, most of her friends can drive. Also lucky for her, she comes home by her curfew, so she gets to continue going out! Morgan has been spending the night at friends a lot. I told her she could have someone spend the night here, but apparently that didn't appeal to her and she's going to another friends tonight. At least I know Eric is taking me out to dinner, because we are doing nothing tomorrow night for New Years Eve. We had asked some friends to come over, but I never called until yesterday, and they already had plans. Maybe I waited so it was too late, and I now don't have to clean my house. Eric and I plan on having a nice quiet evening at home....who know if we'll even be awake at midnight!

It's Over Already?

Of course, it's not really over! At least that's what our priest said in his homily Christmas Eve. We should still be celebrating the birth of Jesus and the 12 days of Christmas! Of course like the priest said (I'd call him by his name, but he was a visiting priest from Austrailia and I can't remember his name), in the commercial world, it's already time to get ready for Valentine's Day. So I try to remind myself daily that we still should be celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Despite being just the 4 of us for Christmas, it was really very perfect! No rushing about to clean up after opening gifts, no stressing out about the food being done at a certain time. Morgan set her alarm for 8:00, so she woke everyone us, although I have to admit, I was awake, just didn't feel like getting up! We all were very please with our gifts....Ashley loved her all in one scanner, which was hooked up shortly after opening gifts. Morgan thought that black and red basketball shoes were the best, she put them on and wore them in the house the entire day! Eric said he never in his life thought he'd be glad to get dress clothes, but he was, that and his favorite gifts, the 2 DVD's of the Blue Collar Tour (Jeff Foxworthy and gang). I haven't seen him laugh that hard in a long time. I got a new and somewhat complicated digital camera. It even has "movie mode" on it. I decided after boggling my mind with reading the book, I'm just going to start using it and if I get stumped, I'll whip out the book and read just *that* part! As usual, sitting down to dinner, I realized how lucky I am, and feel sad when I know there are people who cannot afford such a nice Christmas, or have no one but themselves at this time of year.
Now life is getting back to normal, I guess. I did have to take down the artificial tree in the basement already....with a little help of Chester and Rex. Apparantly they were chasing each other around the basement and they knocked the tree over. It broke a leg off the base, so I tried gluing it back on. Then Morgan and I tried picking it up, but we weren't tall enough to lift it high enough to set it on the stand, and broke another leg off of it. So we laid it back down and I disassembled it while it was on the floor. Had some broken bulbs, but nothing that can't be replaced.
Ahhh, the life I lead....and you wonder why I called this "Crazy Thought by Lisa".

Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve and I just wanted to let everyone know that I feel fortunate to know you! I also know how fortunate I am in my life. I am praying that others who are less fortunate find a way to turn their lives around and find peace and happiness.

I'm supposed to be cleaning

I will write about anything to put off cleaning! I spent the entire morning Christmas shopping (half of that hunting down basketball shoes) and told Eric I would spend the afternoon cleaning. I keep telling myself that if I get at least the living room and kitchen cleaned, I will be happy. And I tell myself no matter what I get cleaned, as long as it's something, Eric is taking me to the country club for dinner (and beer!).

What's in a name?

Do you think dogs really learn their names, or just come to something that sounds similar? I mean, poor Chester has several names that he's been called. Here's a list.....Chester (duh!), Ches, Chet, Chestrey, Chester Bob, Chesthair, Chesterfield and Snowball (boys are weird). Think he know's his REAL names?

Just plain crazy

When I named this blog "Crazy Thoughts by Lisa" I intended for it to be funny, but this morning, I'm just plain crazy! With still trying to catch up from vacation (and trying to make sure Morgan is caught up with school work), trying to get Christmas taken care of, trying to find time to grocery shop, pay bills and go thru my checkbook (unfortunately I'm not good at that and I have 5 months of statements sitting here), I had a little panic attack today. I was on my way to Greeley after dropping off the girls at school, they were running late, which meant I was running late. I had to go work out, then get back to Eaton and pick up Chester and have him to the groomers by 9:00 (finally, a groomer opened up shop in OUR town!), and it was already 8:00, I was sitting in traffic by the elementary school and couldn't even get across the intersection, there was so much cross traffic (of course it was a 2 way stop, and I was sitting at the stop sign), so I just decided to go home. I am drinking a diet Mt. Dew, not that it will calm my nerves, but it sounded good! I have my statments sitting out, with my checkbook and calculator and I have 20 minutes until I need to take Chester to the groomers. Then I think I'll take a shower, make a list of things to get done and make my grocery list. Somehow, making a list helps me organize thoughts and keep me from running in circles! Wish me luck!

Listen Up!

This is to my dear sister, who told me she knew what I could get her hubby for Christmas, she just couldn't tell me over the phone, because John was standing there. She promised to e-mail the idea, this was over the weekend. I haven't heard from you yet, and I've e-mailed you to remind you! You're going to get a lump of coal if you dont let me know soon!

Listen Up!

Our Vacation Story

We finally did it, took the girls on a REAL vacation, something we hadn't done in 7 or more years! We booked a Disney vacation package last spring and thought it would never come, but it's come and gone now....so quickly! Anyway, we left on a Thursday morning, had to get up at the crack of dawn to get to the Denver airport on time! Made it to Florida, no problems. My parents were already at the hotel, having arrived a few hours earlier. Mom was waiting when our Disney bus pulled up, camera in hand to take our picture as we got off the bus! The hotel, the Beach Club, was beautiful, and they had an awesome pool! The first night we walked to Epcot where we had dinner reservations at Coral Reef. Neat place! They have this huge aquarium with tons of fish, sharks, stingrays and a turtle. We were sitting right in front of it too, which was nice. After dinner, we wander back through Epcot and found a spot to stand to watch their light show. It was very impressive! Back to the hotel, the girls went to the room and we found a nice bar to have a few drinks at. The next day we went to the hotel's character breakfast, which we ALL enjoyed a lot, it was fun! Eric and Morgan decided we needed to go back to Epcot to try a few things they'd seen on a station at the hotel. Needless to say, when we got to the "ride" they wanted to do, Eric chickened out, reading their warnings. It was supposed to be like you were in a space ship, blasting off from earth and landing on Mars. So Morgan and I did it, and it was so neat....I think Eric would have liked it. He also wanted to do the race car thing, but just as we showed up, they were turning people away, something was wrong with it. We did wander thru the many countries and went to a Scandinavian thing too. Had a nice time. We took the girls back to the hotel because Morgan was dying to go swimming and use the water slide. Ashley just wanted to eat, she was starving. So the guys went to ESPN bar and the rest of us met them there later. We had dinner there, then walked the boardwalk and shopped the shops. Saturday we went to the Magic Kingdom....unfortunately that was the one day we had bad weather. It was cool and cloudy and it rained a little bit. Neither of the girls wore jackets, so they were freezing (we later found out it was only like 50 degrees), so they got new sweatshirts. Then on Sunday, we packed for the cruise, then took one carryone and headed to Animal Kingdom....we had a breakfast there then got preferred seating at the Lion King show. That was SO AWESOME, even my dad, who never seems to get a thrill from anything, really liked it. Ashley insisted on seeing a crocidile and it took us awhile to find the darn thing! My favorite thing that day was getting my picture taken with Eeyore, who has always been my favorite, he even gave me a kiss! Then it was off for the bus, so we could head to Cape Canaveral and board the ship. What a beautiful ship too! Eric and I were impressed with our stateroom, since we'd been on 2 other cruises and knew how small the rooms can be. The girls were thinking it would be bigger, but it was really nice. And we had a veranda, which thrilled me to no end! I could have sat out there and looked at the ocean all day! Our first night was a bit tough, Morgan headed for the teen club and Ashley stuck with me and my mom. I should have been specific with Morgan, the activities got over at 2:00 a.m., but I didn't tell her she had to be back after that. She stayed out playing basketball and at the internet cafe until 4:30....while her dad and I scoured the ship and called security! Bad thing was, when she came back, she didn't understand what the big fuss was about! The next day we went to Nassua (did I spell that right?), the girls got their hair braided and Eric got us a tour guide. Jojo was great, he had a limo and drove us all around the island, the richer parts, the poorer parts, the forts, the neat stairs that slaves carved out of rocks and then Atlantis.....what a place that is!
After dinner that night, my mom, Ashley and I were up on 10th deck, enjoying the music and Ashley kept saying she didn't feel well (keep in mind, we were still docked), Eric thought it was motion sickness, so I went and got her dramamine. Unfortunately, that wasn't it and she ended up throwing up ALL night, until all she had were the dry heaves. I had to take her to the medical office and they decided it was a virus, gave her a shot in the butt and told her she was quarentined to our cabin for 48 hours, which of course would be the lat 2 days of the cruise! Eric and my dad said they would stay on board with her, so that Morgan, my mom and I could go onto Castaway Cay, Disney's private island. Feeling a little guilty, I did agree. Morgan ditched us quickly for her friend Juliana. She wasn't happy when we had to leave to go parasailing, but then decided after we'd done it, it was worth it. I liked it, it's so quiet when you're up there, but I'm a little jumpy and anytime the harness would move, I would grip the darn thing tighter! Then we rode the banana boat....again Morgan didn't want to leave Juliana, but again, was glad she went, it was a blast! I do that again for sure!
Wednesday we just sailed...we wandered the boat, laid in the sun, snuck Ashley out because she was finally feeling better, just enjoyed being at sea. It was sad knowing it was our last night. Morgan could wait to leave dinner to find her friends, and Ashley was ready to go back to the cabin and lay down. So Eric, my parents and I went to the adult bar where they were having a sing along, a skit and more, it was fun. I wasn't ready to head back, but we had to leave the ship early and it was already after 11:00, so we did. Morgan and her friend cried that night when they said goodbye and then they saw each other the next morning and cried some more. She would go on another vacation like this in a heartbeat, but Ashley, she's not so sure she'd cruise again.
It was a wonderful time, unfortunately with a few bumps in the road!
