2nd Go Round

I already tried to post a new blog today, and for some reason, when I hit submit, it came to a page that said "page unavailable" and never posted my blog. I'll try this again and add to it! I actually started Christmas shopping today! Crazy I know, but with vacation in Dec. and all, I figured I'd better start. Plus my mom decided *I* would shop for her this year, and left money for the girls and Eric when they were here in Sept. So today I shopped for Morgan, just from my Mom. It doesn't take long to spend $120. I did manage to buy her 7 things and have $6 left over for a brush set (for makeup), as soon as I find one. Guess I'll try Wal-Mart, as Targets were $12.99!!!
Morgan had a dance after school today for H'ween. Her vice principal told her she couldn't wear her costume, said it was too "provocative". I guess he's lucky she asked him before she just showed up in it! It wasn't anything horrible, she just put together her own version of a super hero, was going to wear black tights with her volleyball spandex over them, and then a pair of red "super hero" panties with a big star on them over that. Then of course a red shirt, gloves and a feather boa! But Mr. Orth said no, so she borrowed a devil costume from her friend.
Ashley had a voice recital today. Unfortunately the only ones invited were the students. It was in the instructors house and she doesn't have room for tons of family. I told Ashley it would have just been me, but I guess one of the students brings everyone from her parents and sisters, to her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. I guess this is just a "practice" for their big recital in December.
Eric is stopping by a friends for a few beers on the way home, so here I sit by myself, accompanied by the dogs.....at least they love to be around me!

Procrastination

Gosh, I don't have much interesting to write about. Nothing exciting is happening right now! I do have a list of things I could be doing, and I know I have to sooner or later, somehow later sounds better. After taking yesterday "off", basically, I shouldn't try that 2 days in a row! There's laundry to be done, bathrooms to be scrubbed (due to 2 sick girls yesterday!), supper to make and it wouldn't hurt to run the vacuum! And some people have the nerve to say SAHM's don't "work". Give me a break!

In Trouble

Well, it's always funny when Mom is in trouble with her kids! Maybe not "funny", but ironic. Eric had won a gift certificate a few weeks back for up to $400 on an airline ticket. Since he has little vacation time left (and has vacation scheduled in Dec.), he said he wouldn't use it. My nephew Adam, is a senior and is in his last musical in IL. Although he doesn't have the starring role this year, I'd still like to see it. So my dear husband booked me a flight with his gift certificate. Me and me alone.....going on a trip......all by myself! It's been years since I've done this. The last time the girls weren't happy with me either! Of course this time could be because I'll see cousins, aunts, uncles and their grandparents. And, of course, the play. But seriously, I could use a break. As much as Eric travels and I am left to be a single parent, sometimes I feel totally used up. So this will be nice.....for me anyway!

Family Connections

This past Saturday we drove up to Gordon, NE, to attend the wedding of Eric's cousin, Katrina. On the way up, I asked Eric to remind me of all Joyce's kids names, so I wouldn't feel stupid if one of them said hi and I didn't realize who they were! So he names off 4 names, Don Jr., Courtney, Katrina and Dominic. I sat there for a minute and then asked if there weren't 5 kids. He went over the names again, and said no. When we got to our hotel, we ran into Eric's niece and her family. He asked Melony how many kids Joyce had and she said 5. Gee, I thought there were 5!!!! He'd forgotten his cousin, Torrie. After the wedding, we were all standing outside when the wedding party came out. Eric hugged Torrie and said, "Geez, I haven't seen you in forever.", as I muttered under my breath, "because you forgot she exisited"! Then he told me that Katrina called him "Dave", which is Eric's older brother. By this time, cousin Nikki stated that maybe we should have a family reunion so we can get to know family members again! Anyway, at the reception, Torrie brought her boyfriend over to introduce us to him, when she got to Eric, she introduce him as "my godparent".....Eric turned bright red and Melony, Cody and I busted out laughing. Not only did he forget her, he forgot she was a godchild!!!! We told her the whole story, after which he asked if she had college that needed to be paid for! He did end up buying her drinks for her the rest of the night and I took a couple of pictures of them, which I told her I would frame and write underneath...."Torrie, godchild". We did have a nice time, and got reaquainted with family!

Last Day of being a Bachelorette

Darn! My days are up! Eric will be home this evening from his hunting trip, pheasant limit in tow! I think we still have some leftover from last year, guess it's time for a big pheasant feed! I didn't do much that was exciting when he was gone, but the pressure is always off to have the house clean and the laundry caught up (I hate it when he asks if he has clean underwear! Do I wear his?? ). Of course I kept laundry up simply because *I* need clothes to wear too!
I took myself to Urgent Care this morning instead of Curves. Nothing big, just thought I might have pink eye and didn't want to infect the others working out today. As I didn't have all the symptoms, but definitely have a red, irritated eye, he gave me an antibiotic eye drop for preventitive measure. It's been all red since yesterday morning, so there must be something wrong!
Well, I suppose I should start cleaning.....I do have over 6 hours to get it done though! Nothing like procrastination! :)

Ugh, it's Monday

Gee, just what are Monday's for? I bet a lot of people use Monday's for a day to "start new".....especially on weight loss. Same here, I've just let myself go when it comes to eating and put on a couple of pounds. Since we are going on the Disney vacation in December, I decided it was time to get back on track! So, starting today I am back on track. I am also finally back on schedule with Curves, which helps too! Seems the summer and then company put a real dent in my exercise! So I sit here, drinking my water, trying to decide what to have for lunch that will be healthy! Why must we think of food so much???

Volleyball is done

Am I strange or what.....I am mourning the loss of volleyball season. I had SUCH a good time watching Morgan play volleyball.....and yesterday, after taking 3rd in the tournament, it was over. I felt this way after softball was over too, just as if something in my life was missing. I've heard of living vicariously through others, but seriously, this is my daughter's sports, and should I be missing them? I have to say, Morgan is fun to watch, she is so into her sports, gives it her all, and loves to win. She's not a poor sport, but does hate it when they lose. Well, basketball starts after the Christmas holiday, so we'll be back in the swing of sports again!

The Husband's 40th

Well, happy birthday to my dear husband, Eric. He's 40 today. Funny, I really wanted to have a surprise birthday party for him, but he had already planned to be gone, due to pheasant hunting season being this time. I thought I could have one before or after his birthday, and then, he ruined it. About a month ago, he was in a really bad mood and just said, "I know you're going to have a party for my birthday, it won't be a surprise, so you might as well just tell me now." Right then and there I figured his surprise would be NO BIRTHDAY PARTY! And can you believe, he was actually upset when he didn't get a party??? Seriously, a couple of days before he left, he said "I can't believe you didn't have a party for me!" I explained to him that he shot himself in the foot with his previous attitude and he took all the fun out of it. I even gave him a new name..."Birthday Scrooge". I still may have a party for him, thought maybe if I have it November 16th (or right around that) it could be his one month anniversary of turning 40! I hope this teaches him a lesson, never tell someone you *know* they are having a surprise party for you, 'cause more than likely, it'll come back and bite you in the butt! Oh, and I'd like to tell my dad, Happy 63rd! Can you believe I did run screaming from Eric when I found out he and my dad shared a birthday??? What was I thinking?

Too Much Company?

Wow, I never realize that having company could be so stressful! At the end of September, my parents visited for 8 days. We had a great time, golfed a LOT, and generally kept busy. But while they were here I let things slip, which took some time catching up on! A week or so after they left, my husband brought his dad home with him. Granted, my FIL hasn't visited us in 11 years, and he's now a widower, but I'm telling you, it totally stressed me out! We are from 2 different worlds, and generations. Unfortunately, Eric had to work the whole time FIL was here, so he wasn't around much. They left this morning. FIL was here for a week, he did tell me that he had a great time.....I took him on a 100 mile drive one day, just to show him around. But I'm pretty sure he was ready to go home, especially since his suitcase was packed and sitting in the dining room yesterday when I got home from work, around 12:30. They didn't leave until 6:00 this morning! I am hoping now that I shouldn't have any company for a long time, I'll be able to keep up on my blog! I sure hope so!
